Have you ever felt like gifting a wine bottle felt a little “lazy” compared to giving other gifts? I don’t think it’s so much the actual gift, but the wrapping isn’t usually as fun when giving a bottle of wine or alcohol.
Here are four fun ways to dress up a wine bottle and make it feel a little more special. All of these ideas are all really quick to complete, which is a nice bonus, too!
1. Dress up your wine bottle (literally!): OK, I can’t be the only person who thinks a wine bottle in a little hat and sweater is freaking adorable!
You can do a Santa-type outfit for the holidays, a reindeer, or something adorable like this if you don’t want it to be holiday-themed. If you’re a fan of A Christmas Story, you’ll probably love this one!
All of these are easy to keep in a gift wrap stash, so they can be reused next time they go to give a gift of wine, too.
2. Wrap the bottle in a tea towel: This is an easy way to wrap your bottle in a cute tea or hand towel.
Fold your towel in half over the wine bottle, fold up the right and left bottom corners to meet the body of the bottle.
Next, fold up the right side, then the left side, and gather the top fabric together with a ribbon. Tie the ribbon and you’re ready to gift!
I especially love this way to wrap the wine bottle because you not only gift the wine itself, but also the tea towel it comes wrapped in!
3. Decorate the bottle with an ornament: This is another way to give two presents in one! Add a pretty bow or ribbon, but also tie on an ornament or holiday decoration to it so they can use it on their tree!
Bonus points if you match the color of your wine to the ornament. I used a car ornament, but I love this croissant and this hot dog ornament.
4. Wrap the bottle with a paper fan: This method may look fancy, but it’s actually really fast to do and looks adorable.
Simply place your bottle on a piece of wrapping paper with a little extra coverage at the bottom and a lot of extra at the top. Pull the paper around your bottle so it’s covered, and tape closed.
Fold up the bottom paper so the bottom of the bottle is wrapped and tape closed. Then, flatten out the top tube of the paper above the cork with your fingers.
Fold your paper back and forth like an accordion in 3/4″ish sections until you’ve folded down to the cork.
Wrap a string or decorative wire from top to bottom, cutting the fanned paper in half. Use a bit of tape on the bottom and back to keep the string in place.
Fan out the top and use tape to tape the two halves of your fan together (either use double-sided tape or tape from the back). Tie your string into a bow and you’re done!
I love how pretty and fancy the wrapping looks, but it’s quick to do so you can do several at once for a batch of gifts.
Maybe add in an accessory like an electric wine opener (Emma loves hers) or a funny wine glass. Happy gifting!
